A friendly walkthrough to sign in and set up Ledger® Live: from creating or restoring accounts, to pairing a hardware device and safely managing your recovery seed. Follow these steps to get started with confidence.

Create or restore

Choose "Create new" to generate a fresh account with a 24‑word recovery phrase, or "Restore" if you already have a seed. Always write it down and keep it offline.

Set a strong PIN

Set a PIN on your Ledger device. This prevents unauthorized physical access and adds a first line of defense if your device is ever lost or stolen.

Pair your device

Connect your Ledger hardware (Nano series or compatible) to Ledger® Live during initial setup. The app will guide you through installing necessary chain apps.

Add accounts

Add Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana and other supported accounts to your dashboard. Accounts are watch-only in the app until you approve transactions on-device.

Secure habits

Never enter your recovery phrase into a computer or phone. Store it offline, consider using a passphrase for hidden accounts, and always verify addresses and contract details on-device.

Your recovery phrase (24 words) is the single most important backup for your crypto assets. Ledger® Live guides you through securely generating and storing it during setup. Never share this phrase. Consider storing a duplicate in a separate, secure location like a safe deposit box. For organizational use, consider multisig configurations and hardware security modules as part of a custody strategy.
